Q - What sort of filtration system does the pool have? A - A sand filtration system.
Q - Why might the hot tube be closed? A - 1 - Utah Health Code requires that our Chlorine be between 1ppm & 10ppm, and our PH levels must be between 7.2 & 7.8. There are lots of times that the hot tub would be safe to be in, however due to state code we must be closed. 2 - Due to the volume and temperature of the water, 1 person in the hot tub is like having 100 people in our Lap Pool. So the effect on the balance of the water is much much greater per person that uses our hot tub.
Q - Are the SSAFC pools salt pools? A - No we are not a salt pool. How a salt pool works is that you dump bags of salt into the water. That water then passes through electrical plates. This process separates the molecules, and creates chlorine that is then introduced back into the pool. SSAFC does not dump salt into the pool, however we do generate our own Chlorine. We have a salt bin in our pump room that, through the same process as a traditional salt pool, generates chlorine as needed.
Q - Why did my suit change colors? A - There could be multiple reasons. The most common would be that your suit was not Chlorine resistant. More and more we are finding that manufacturers are saying suits are for chemically treated pools, yet they are not. If your suit happens to change color we are very sorry, however it is VERY unlikely that it was due to chemicals being out of balance in our water. If our chemicals were out of balance enough to bleach a suit, then everyone in the pool would have their suit bleached.
Q - How often do you check your chemicals? A - By Utah State Code we are required to check our chemicals 2 times per day. We choose to check ours every 3 hours that we are open to the public. This helps us catch any changes in chemical levels before they get to a point where it would be able to cause any issues.
